Okay, if you actually read anything that I put on here you know how much I love flowers. I just love them! And because I am in the process of creating (if that is what you want to call it) my girls room I saw this from Angie at the Country Chic Cottage and fell in love! I had seen it in the PB catalog and thought it would be fun to make, but she just makes it so simple that I had to do it!
I did a few things different so I will give you my simple tutorial so that you can make on for yourself!
I own a Big Shot by Sizzix - now I don't use it nearly often enough, but it sure came in handy here. And it is quite sturdy. Here is Thing #5 standing on it - this is what happens at my house when I turn around for more fabric.
I raided my stash of fabric for all the white remnants that I had. There were some with patterns and some plain. I cut them into roughly 3 inch squares. I then used my flower - build a flower die cut (well I only used on of the dies on the pad) and I proceeded to cut a ton of flowers out. This was actually not very hard, depending on the fabric I could cut 6-8 pieces at a time. And my girl wanted to help, so I let her. I ended up cutting about 300.
This is a small pile of them about 100 - and it took 20 minutes to do all of these.
I then took three different sized embroidery hoops and painted them white, tried to tie them together. This proved to be the hardest part of this whole project. But I finally got it done!
After that I sewed my flowers into one big row, one after another. I did not get a picture of this, but you can look at the chandy and see what I mean. I actually did this at several different times because my kids were home from school and at our house after school is chaotic.
The next part was easy, I just started gluing the flowers to the hoops and then cut them to the desired length I wanted. and then you end up with this beautiful thing!
I have it hanging in my living room right now because I just love the way it looks. I told my girl that I would move it to her room when I put her bed up there. Isn't that the prettiest thing you ever saw?! I just love it, it is so girly and fun. I am hoping that it will be one of those things that she does not grow too old for, and if by chance she does, then it will be mine!

ReplyDeleteWow, that is so pretty! I've been thinking about making this kind of thing (only with butterflies instead of flowers), so it was really interesting to see someone who has done it. I definitely have to make it now.
