Quilt #1 for 2011

Maybe you remember some of my New Year's resolutions, well I have started in on one. I am going to finish six quilts this year. I decided that since I have a few tops that I have sitting around I should get those ones done first. However, I have finished one other top and started in on another one. Sometimes I get tired of working with the same fabric for a long time, and so I set it aside and start another one. Not super conducive to getting things done, but eventually they do get done.

Anyway, this quilt top I have had laying around for about 2 years. I did the top one week when Conan was gone for business and I was a little bored in the evenings. It went together really quick - because it is just squares with sashing. I am not sure why I never got around to quilting it because I love the way it looks on my bed. I have had a quilt with a white background and not much color and this just adds that little extra to the room.

This is a huge quilt and my frame is only for up to queen sized, so it was a project to quilt. I had to fold and be careful not to quilt too close to my folds. Then when I took it off the frame I had to finish quilting it, and I do not like to quilt without my frame. It just takes way too long!! Because I knew that I would have to do this, I did a simple big all over pattern.
I am so motivated to get some quilts done that I actually sat down and did the binding in two evenings. Usually it takes me a long time, or I save it if we are getting ready to take a long drive. So this is a new record for me.

It makes me happy that I am progressing in my goals! Don't forget to come and link up your projects to Fantastic Friday this week!

  6. Good for you! I leave quilts sitting for a long time and then when I do finish them I wondered what I was waiting for. I can't imagine how long it would take to quilt a king sized one . . . I'm so impressed.

  8. I love that you can quilt. I'll just admit I'm jealous I have no skills when it comes to anything with material. But I love looking at what you can do!
